WHO ARE THE DAUGHTERS OF ST.CAMILLUS
The Daughters of St.camillus are Religious Sisters whose Mother House is at Grottaferrata,Rome. They have a particular Mission in the church to give witness to the merciful love of Christ towards the sick and the poor through a special vow which involves even risking their live.
The Charism originated from the Crucifix revealed to St.Camillus de Lellis. The Congregation of the Daughters of St.Camillus was found by Bd Luigi Tezza (son of St.Camillus) and Bd Josephine Vannini. At the time of St.Camillus it was impossible to realize his dream to have a female branch of Camillians to assist the sick. Fr. Luigi Tezza who had a long cherished desire of forming a group of youngsters consecrated to the care of the sick according to the mind and heart of St.Camillus, was finally able to realize.
On the 2nd February 1892, where St.Camillus died, the Institute of the Daughters of St.Camillus was began with the imposition of the scapular with the Red Cross.
 CAMILLIAN CHARISM
Camillian charism is a specific gift of God to the Church through St.Camillus and our Founders, is to serve the sick even at the risk of our life. “I was sick and you visited me. What so ever you do to the least of my brethren you do it to me”. It is realized in the spiritual and bodily; works of mercy toward the sick.

THE MEANING OF THE RED CROSS.
The Red Cross has the purpose to evoke in the sick the feelings of faith, hope and confidence as they recall the passion, death and resurrection of our Lord. It is also a reminder to the followers of St. Camillus of their commitment of service to the sick.
The mother of St. Camillus, a few days before she saw the light of day, had a dream that she had given birth a son with a Cross on his breast (chest), who was followed by several children all be decked in the same way.
As his life un folded it was proved different that dram was verified and how her fear would have given a place to consolation with the many religious who followed his holy example and were full of his seal to serve all armed with the sacred sign of the cross, robbing the devil of multitudes of souls and this chiefly during the time of their last agony.
During the battle of Canizza IN 1601, The Lord permitted a miraculous event to occur which manifested his approval of the Red Cross of St.Camillus. while the Camillian religious were busily occupied with the wounded the tent in which they had all their equipment and supplies was destroyed and burnt to the ground . Everything in the tent was destroyed except the Red Cross of their habit belonging to one of the camillian religious who was ministering to the causalities on the battlefield.
